Good Friday horror as statue of Christ is broken in HALF during Easter parade
The wooden cross splintered and in front of the thousands of people, organisers had to strap it together with ropes so the parade through the city could continue.
Church leaders said the incident was unfortunate but in the scheme of things, “was something small that meant nothing.”
Pictures were broadcast live by Spanish TV which captured the moment the float bearers stopped abruptly as they realised what had happened.
There were fears that the statue, made in 1944 and surrounded by 6,000 red carnations, could topple off into the crowd after the so-called “foreman” did not notice the overhead traffic lights. Read more....
